Hi, I’m Jeff (jeffective).
I am a mechanical engineer, but I’ve been filling the rest of the crevices in my mind with real-time software.
For work, I do industrial automation in the aerospace industry. It’s not exactly Software You Can Love, since every vendor is trying to lock you into their ecosystem and workflow. Often this is incompatible with modern software development practices (automated testing, change management, actually using git). Fortunately, the only barrier is technical complexity. Realizing this, and maxing my stubbornness, I have slowly been encroaching deeper into systems programming in hopes of building truly reliable and performant systems, even through significant changes.
For fun, you will find me doing a lot that looks like work…I’m still working on that. I can thank early childhood experiences setting up Minecraft servers (remember LogMeIn Hamachi?) and hours in Skype and TeamSpeak for cementing my interest in computers. I have 2 cats with my partner Tevel.
I love talking about all things quiche (quirky + niche), come say hi!
